Vietnam is the easternmost country on the Southeast Asian Indochinese Peninsula, bordering with China, Laos, and Cambodia. The capital city of Vietnam is Hanoi, while the most populous city is Ho Chi Minh City. But most importantly, Vietnam is one of the most popular destinations worldwide, and certainly one of the cheapest to visit in the Asian continent.
Most travelers visiting Vietnam will need to apply for some type of travel authorization. Currently, only citizens of 24 countries are allowed to enter Vietnam visa-free, for different periods depending on the nationality of the travelers.
At the moment, the eVisa is available for several countries globally. The eVisa for Vietnam is an electronic travel authorization that allows citizens of specific countries to enter Vietnam and stay in the country for up to 30 days.
Apart from tourism purposes, there are a few other reasons that are applicable to the eVisa:
- Visiting friends or relatives
- Investing in a Vietnamese enterprise
- Labor or short employment
- An official visit or summit
Travelers that want to stay in Vietnam longer than 30 days for the same reason can apply for an eVisa to enter the country and then apply for a new visa before the previous one expires. To do so, they must be sponsored by an agency, organization, or individual in Vietnam.
Alternatively, they can leave the country and apply for a new eVisa, then re-enter Vietnam as soon as they receive it.
Do Argentinian Citizens Need a Visa for Vietnam?
Yes, Argentinians need to possess a visa to enter Vietnam. Argentina is one of the countries whose citizens can apply for the Vietnamese tourist eVisa.
The electronic visa for Vietnam allows Argentinian travelers to enter Vietnamese territory through 33 entry ports, including airports, seaports and land ports. This Vietnam online travel authorization system allows a single entry into the country.
Before applying for the eVisa for Vietnam, travelers from Argentina should ensure they meet all the requirements:
- Possess an Argentinian passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry in Vietnam
- Provide a digital scan of the biographical page of the passport
- Provide a digital passport photo
- Pay the visa fee using a credit or debit card
The application takes place online so there will be no need for travelers to visit an embassy or consulate to obtain their visa. This simplifies the whole procedure and allows for a much faster process.
Vietnam Tourist Visa for Argentinian Passport Holders
Argentinian passport holders will simply need an internet connection to submit an application for the Vietnam eVisa. Filling out the application form will only take a few minutes where applicants will need to provide the following information:
- Personal details: full name, address, nationality, date of birth
- Passport information: number, date of issue and expiry
- Questions about health and vaccination history
- Travel plans including the address where they will stay in Vietnam
- Security questions
It is extremely important to ensure all the information provided is accurate and up to date. Incorrect information can lead to delays or to a rejection of the eVisa.
Once the application form is completed, applicants will need to pay the eVisa fee with a debit or credit card. It is important to note that the visa fee will not be refunded in case of rejection or unused eVisa.
The processing time for the Vietnam eVisa is approximately one to three business days. However, travelers are advised to apply at least 7 days prior to departure.
A PDF copy of the visa will be sent to the email address provided during the application. Travelers should print a copy of the visa to present at the Vietnamese border together with their passport.
Applicants that have two passports should use the same one in the application form and when entering the country.
The visa will be valid from the date mentioned during the application and specified on the PDF visa. Travelers are allowed to enter Vietnam at any time after that date and within the validity period.
Note: All children traveling to Vietnam who are under 14 years of age and hold their own passport will have to submit a separate application from that of their parents.
Vietnam Visa on Arrival for Nationals of Argentina
Nationals of Argentina can also obtain a visa on arrival at one of the five main airports in Vietnam. The visa on arrival is available for either 30 or 60 days for the same purposes as the eVisa.
However, the process is not as straightforward as for other countries. Before the travel, applicants will need to submit an online form that takes around 2 business days to process. They will then receive a Letter of Approval that they will need to print and present at the airport immigration office together with two passport-style photos.
Upon entry, travelers will need to queue at the immigration office to get their passport stamp and gain entry to Vietnam. For this reason, the visa on arrival is not a recommended option.
While there is the benefit of having a visa for 60 days, the whole process is slightly more complicated and requires a longer waiting time at the airport.
