Over 170,000 European tourists visited Vietnam in December 2018. To help the growing tourism industry, the Vietnamese government initiated a pilot electronic scheme to simplify entry to nationals of over 70 countries, including Croatians. That means that Croatia passport holders can now take advantage of the Vietnam electronic Visa.
The electronic visa for Vietnam eliminates the need to travel to their local embassy or consulate and enables nationals of Croatia to remain in Vietnam for 30 consecutive days for tourism or business purposes.
Vietnam eVisa Entry Requirements for Croatian Passport
In order to get an electronic travel authorization to Vietnam, Croatian citizens need to meet a number of Vietnam eVisa entry requirements:
- Hold a valid Croatian passport. The document should not expire for at least 6 months after the date of arrival
- The passport should have at least 2 blank pages
- A working email address for contact and to receive the eVisa
- A valid credit or debit card to pay for the application fee
Why Are Croatian Tourists Required to Get a Vietnam Visa?
Vietnam requires most visitors to obtain some kind of visa or travel permit in order to enter the country.
The Vietnam e-Visa is a convenient travel authorization that grants access to Vietnam to nationals of Croatia for a short period of time. Only those Croatians traveling to Vietnam for tourism or business purposes can apply, but they can obtain their tourist visa in a much faster fashion.
The Vietnam visa can only be used for a single-entry and has a validity period of 30 days from the date that appears on the application form.
Double citizenship and the eVisa for Vietnam
Croatian nationals who hold dual citizenship will have to use the same passport to enter Vietnam as they used during their application process.
The electronic visa is linked to a specific passport and cannot be transferred to any other passport book, therefore holidaymakers should decide under which passport they want to enter Vietnam.
Vietnam Electronic Visa: Application Process for Croatian Nationals
The process of getting an online visa for Vietnam is quick and simple. The application can be completed in under 20 minutes and the whole process can be done from home.
Croatian travelers are encouraged to fill the Vietnam eVisa application form before making any travel arrangements in order to avoid possible delays or issues that could arise from the process as either a visa or a travel authorization is required to cross into Vietnamese territory.
The details Croatians have to provide when filling out the application form are very basic and include:
- Personal data such as name, nationality, and date of birth
- Passport information such as passport number, expiration date, and date of issuance
- Croatian applicants also must submit a 4×6 passport-style photograph. The picture needs to be clear and in focus and should have been taken against a neutral background, facing forwards and looking at the camera
After completing the application form, it will be submitted for review to the Vietnamese immigration authorities. Once the petition is approved, it is then emailed to the Croatian applicant in PDF format to the email address they provided.
Vietnam eVisa: Processing Time for Croatia
The Vietnam electronic visa is usually processed in under 3 business days, however, a large majority of applications are approved within 24 hours.
Croatians must remember that any errors on the applicant’s form could result in delays and/or the rejection of the Vietnam eVisa. It is recommended to go over the information before submitting the application.
A new visa will be required when the electronic travel authorization for Vietnam expires.
Can Croatians Obtain a Vietnam Visa on Arrival?
Vietnam’s visa on arrival (VOA) is a good option for those Croatians with no internet connection and traveling to one of the 5 main Vietnam airports that procure this document. Otherwise, it is recommended to get the electronic permit before departing to the Asian country.
Croatian travelers who want to apply for their visas once in the country will have to present 2 passport-type photos at the immigration check as well as pay for the visa in cash. Oftentimes the exact amount is needed.
Long lines and waiting times are also common, so extra time might be needed.
