The number of international visitors traveling to Vietnam has kept increasing each year over the past few years, almost doubling from 2016 to 2019, in just three years. With so many travelers interested in this country in Southeast Asia, it was only natural to implement a faster and easier immigration process, that would allow travelers to enter Vietnam easily.
While citizens of 24 countries, mostly from Asia, Europe, and South America, are allowed to enter Vietnam visa-free for short stays, travelers from 81 other countries globally can apply for an eVisa.
The Vietnam tourist eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that eliminates the need of applying for a visa in person at an embassy or consulate, therefore speeding up the process. This visa allows travelers a single entry to Vietnam for up to 30 days.
Do Venezuelans Need Visa for Vietnam?
Yes, Venezuelan citizens need a visa in order to enter Vietnam. However, the process is really simple and straightforward and they can apply entirely online. All they need is an internet connection, meeting the visa requirements established by the Vietnamese government and providing the necessary documentation.
The eVisa allows Venezuelan citizens to travel to Vietnam for one of the following reasons:
- Academic purposes
- Visiting relatives or friends
- Investing in a Vietnamese enterprise
- Official visits or summits
- Labor or short employment
Note: The Vietnam eVisa allows a single-entry for up to 30 days and an extension is only possible by leaving the country and re-entering with a new eVisa. From mid-2020 some citizens will be allowed to request an extension without leaving Vietnam, however, this only applies in case of investors or representatives of organizations that make legal investments, citizens that have a job offer in Vietnam, and foreign workers that entered Vietnam with an eVisa.
E-Visa Vietnam for Venezuela Passport Holders
Venezuela passport holders can apply for an eVisa at any time and from anywhere as long as they have a device with an internet connection. The application only requires a few minutes once all the necessary documentation has been gathered.
The requirements for the Vietnam eVisa for Venezuelans are the following:
- Possessing a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry in Vietnam
- Providing a passport-style digital photo
- Providing a digital scan of the biographical page of their passport
- Providing a valid email address
- Completing the payment of the visa fee
Applicants will also need to provide their personal information such as full name, date of birth and address, the passport details, answer some health and security-related questions, and provide their travel plans, including the address where they will stay in Vietnam and the date of arrival.
Important: travelers should double-check the information provided in the application form to ensure there are no inaccuracies as they can lead to delays or rejection of the eVisa.
Processing Time of the Vietnam Visa for Venezuelan Citizens
The processing time of the Vietnam eVisa is relatively short, ranging from 48 to 72 hours. However, to avoid any inconveniences and ensure they receive their visa before their trip, travelers are advised to submit their application form at least seven days prior to departure.
Applicants will receive their eVisa as a PDF via email. They will need to print the PDF to present at the immigration office at the entry port, along with their passport.
Note: Travelers possessing more than one passport should ensure they use the same both in the application form and when entering Vietnam.
Entry to Vietnam is possible through airports, seaports and land crossings at the borders with Cambodia, Laos, and China.
Vietnam Visa on Arrival for Venezuelan Nationals
The Vietnam government also has created another visa option called visa on arrival, also known simply as VoA. It is important to note that the process is not as straightforward as for other countries and they will still need to submit an online application prior to departure.
However, Venezuelan citizens are not eligible to obtain a visa on arrival directly at the entry port in Vietnam.
In any case, this online application takes about two business days to process, after which travelers will receive a Letter of Approval that they will need to print and present at the immigration office upon arrival. They will also need to provide two passport-size photos.
The process then requires queuing at the dedicated immigration office in order to receive the stamp on the passport and gain access to Vietnam.
It is recommended to apply for an eVisa rather than a visa on arrival, given that the process is much easier and can be completed from the comfort of one’s home, without any need for queuing. The entry into Vietnam is also much smoother and faster when possessing an eVisa.
